Lush #GayIsOk campaign

I’ve always been impressed with Lush’s charity work, where I’m informed that globally in the last financial year they’ve raised over £3,000,000 supporting small charities, campaigns and organisations working in the areas on environment, animal protection and human rights. I love that you can go into any Lush store and the staff are so passionate about the products and what they’re supporting; always full of facts and information about where the profits are going.

Last week a new campaign kicked off for the sensationally scented company with their #GayIsOK campaign which aims to raise £250,000. When the press release first dropped on my desk at work it raised a few eyebrows amongst colleagues who were quick to question what the motive of the campaign was, but far from being an excuse to sell delightfully camp golden soaps, it aims to spread awareness of LGBT rights across the world as human rights, where shops will be aksing their customers “what if your love was illegal?” and encouraging them to post selfies with the campaign’s fundraising product – the aforementioned glittery gold soap.

Lush Easter Collection 2015

Lush_Easter_2015_1

Since my festive tour of Lush at the end of last year, I have become something of a Lush mega-fan. I now look forwards to nothing more than a hot bath with a bomb or melt – with a g&t in hand, and The Good Wife on Netflix propped precariously on the tub too of course! I love that Lush brings out a new range of goodies each time a seasonal celebration comes around, and the the cutest excuse of all… roll on Easter.

Last Minute Gifts: Lush

Still stuck for festive beauty gift ideas? One of our favourite last-minute-present-solvers is Lush, which for us can be found in Cambridge’s Lion Yard (as with all Lush stores, simply follow your nose to track it down). We were recently invited for a late-night tour of the store’s range of Christmas goodies, and the friendly and enthusiastic staff kept us talking for almost two hours – there really was a huge amount to talk about.

AW14 makeup & beauty trend report

AW14 makeup trend report

Charlotte and I had so much fun writing this feature for local lifestyle magazine, Cambridge Edition. We often trawl through the re-purposed trends from the catwalk feeling a dull sense of déjà vu, but for this one we got together around mine to write the copy together, which is something we haven’t done in ages – usually bouncing ideas between What’sApp and Googledocs. Of course it doubles as a great excuse for our dogs to have a play as well. Toby is fast approaching his first birthday and it’s so sweet to see their little friendship growing and developing. Two dogs who couldn’t be more different, sharing moments 🙂

Be a trend-setter this summer

I’m currently researching into must-have products for AW14. Now, since we’ve been working on these trend reports, Charlotte and I have noticed all certain trends seem to repeat themselves, regardless of style nor season – but i’m ok with this. While I may be wowed by some of the incredible artistry from the catwalks, when it comes to my everyday makeup look it’s way more toned-down – which is just how I want it.
